We help young people to build life-long belief in themselves, supporting them to take on their own challenges, follow their own passions and discover talents they never knew they had. Because when you prove to yourself that you’re ready for anything, nothing can hold you back.

Do you want to be part of that?

The Role

The Operations Officer role involves closely managing the relationships of our partner organisations (known as Licenced Organisations – LOs) and ensuring those within your portfolio offer quality and inclusive programmes to young people. LOs are mainly schools, but could also be local authorities, colleges, pupil referral units, youth groups and young offender institutions.

You will be at the heart of the DofE’s five-year strategy: Youth Without Limits. Through developing new relationships with appropriate educational and community organisations, you will help widen access to DofE for young people, particularly those who experience marginalisation.

You will be undertaking regular meetings, in person and virtually, engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders at LOs across your portfolio area. When not out at meetings, you will be working from home.

Whilst you won’t be working directly with young people, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are having a positive impact on their future opportunities.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and effective team player, who can engage and influence a variety of stakeholders and be an authentic ambassador for the DofE.

You will be an effective communicator, with excellent time-management skills and a track record of achieving positive outcomes. You’ll need to be exceptionally organised, have strong administrative skills and competency across MS Office applications.

The successful applicant will need to live in or very close to the Greater London area. If you are excited about the prospect of working for the DofE and believe you have the skills and experience to make a success of this role, then we are keen to hear from you.

What will you get in return?

In return, you’ll work with friendly and supportive colleagues as keen as you are to make a difference for young people.

From day one we offer excellent staff benefits including a generous pension contribution, an employee assistance programme, healthcare cash plan and volunteer leave. Also, 25 days holiday, plus Bank Holidays and an additional 3 days paid leave between Christmas and the New Year.

How to apply:

If you feel excited by this role and believe you have the necessary skills and experience to become a valued team member, please go to our website and apply.

The deadline for applying for this role is:  Midnight 14th July 2024

Interviews will be: w/c 22nd July 2024 - virtually via Teams

Since its launch in 1956, the DofE has empowered millions of young people to become the very best they can be. It was established by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, our Patron, and is still guided by the same set of principles he laid down.

The flexibility and adaptability of DofE have allowed the DofE to spread around the world. We operate through a social franchise model in the UK, licensing and supporting a wide range of organisations to deliver DofE programmes to hundreds of thousands of young people every year.

Despite the disruption caused by the COVID-19 outbreak our ambition to grow the number of young people who can access a DofE programme remains unchanged and we continue to engage new partners and develop innovative ways of working with businesses, the voluntary sector, and policymakers across the UK to ensure that any young person who wants to do their DofE can do so. The DofE is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive staff team and we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.

We recruit, develop, promote and value people and the DofE is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce. In order to meet the changing needs and aspirations of the most diverse generation of young adults ever, our staff need a range of perspectives, skills, and lived experience.

While we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds to join our passionate and friendly team, at present people of colour, disabled people, and people under 25 are not as well represented as we would like. As such we particularly encourage applicants from these backgrounds.
